Sunday Services

You are invited to join us for our Sunday worship service at 9:30 am. After the service, head over to Luther Hall for coffee and treats.

NEW: Sunday Storytime for Kids!

We have formed an informal group of teachers and created a curriculum for ten weeks called “Sunday Story Time” for kids, during the fellowship hour after the service in Luther Hall.

The first lesson is about God's love of children; the second is about the good shepherd. Since most of the initial group of lessons will be during Lent, we are focusing on Jesus' teachings.

We have a small “curriculum package” for each week, including the story for the week and relevant pages for children to color. We plan to expand this curriculum to include a small craft. Bring your children and join us!

(Dennis and Norma King)

Pastor Janna Mikkelson will be on hand to offer a warm greeting, then lead the service. Be sure to say hello and tell her your name. We look forward to meeting you!

Why Church is Important

Think about it like this.

God's Spirit calls us together. God speaks to us through readings from the Bible, and through preaching, prayer, and song. God feeds and nourishes our souls. And God blesses us and sends us in mission to the world.

Taken together, the Word of God proclaimed and the sacraments--both Holy Baptism and Holy Communion--are called the means of grace. We believe that Jesus Christ is present in these means through the power of the Holy Spirit. We trust that God is genuinely present with us in baptism, in preaching, and in sharing the bread and wine of Holy Communion. In that sense, we believe that God's presence permeates all of Christian worship.

The cross is the central symbol marking our worship space, and during worship singing fills the air. The voices of all of the people joined in song, and the participation of everyone in worship is a witness to our conviction that in worship, we are being drawn into God's own saving story.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at faithlutheran@volcano.net if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Worship matters, and worship lies at the heart of how we understand ourselves together as a faith community. Here is the basic pattern:

  • We gather in the sanctuary
  • Music
  • We hear from God's Word and read portions out loud together
  • A brief message from the pastor
  • Prayer
  • We share a meal at the Lord's table, also known as Communion

You will be greeted in the Narthex (lobby) and receive a printed handout to follow. The handout includes the Sunday theme, announcements, music, scripture, and other elements of the service. Coloring pages are provided for children. Choose a seat in the sanctuary and enter into worship with us. All are welcome!

We follow the basic pattern outlined above, but we also follow the Church Year. Here are some of the special services we offer:

  • Advent - The beginning of the Church Year. Begins the four weeks before Christmas.
  • Christmas Eve candlelight service
  • Christmas Day service
  • Lent - Begins on Ash Wednesday and lasts 40 days until Passion/Palm Sunday. There is a special service on Ash Wednesday.
  • Holy Week - Special services include Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and an Easter Sunrise Service at the amphitheater.
  • The Blessing of the Animals
  • Reformation Day - This October 31 service celebrates Martin Luther's posting of the 95 Theses on the door of All Saints Church at Wittenberg, Germany in 1517.
  • Thanksgiving Day Service
